Slit-scan: ORIGAMI
August 2020
Video, openframeworks

Thanks to Zach Lieberman and his course Recreating The Past for the computational
slit-scan technique.

Inspired by Golan Levin’s catalogue of slit-scan artworks and my childhood’s hobby of origami, the following videos utilized the slit-scan technique via code, capturing the digital slits sequentially to displace time when each frame are displayed on screen.

I thought that the cranes and tedrahedrons were particularly good for this project due to their shapes and the way they occupied space. The gaps between each modular hedron, for example, lent itself well to visualizing depth.
